Pastor Michael provides overall leadership for the Worship Team, which is responsible for all worship services, including our Lenten worship and special worship services. There are three key groups that support COJ worship:
If you would like to be involved in this exciting ministry, contact one of the team leaders or Pastor Michael.
The Hospitality Team, led by Nancy Brunson, is one of the key means for sharing Christ's love with all who visit COJ. From the greeting at the front door to the coffee mug (with coffee) the Hospitality Team makes everyone feel welcome. The Hospitality Team has other important responsibilities:
Contact Nancy Brunson to find out how you can get more involved in sharing Christ's love.
Debbie Hutton leads the Growth Team at COJ, where we are growing God's family through a comprehensive Christian education program with activities for people of all ages:
Debbie Hutton is your starting point for helping God's family to grow.
Sharing Christ's love and growing God's family means supporting and caring for one another. It always means praying for each other. It also means...
Our goal is that every COJ member will have a Care Contact. You can be part of this vital ministry. The Care & Support Team is lead by Gretchen Comfort. Contact her to get involved!
We're Lutherans! It's all about the coffee! And the potlucks! And the fellowship! But it doesn't just happen (especially the clean-up doesn't just happen). The Fellowship Team helps us be joyful Lutherans, and then get ready for the next Lutheran activity, things like:
One recent visitor told us, You folks are having way too much fun to be Lutherans.
Neal Shotwell leads this team. Please feel free to reach out to her if you would like to get involved or just to offer thanks.
God offers us a tremendous opportunity for joy through trusting him with our time, our talents and our treasure (it's all his in the first place). The Stewardship Team, led by Paul Anderson, helps members understand the opportunities and rewards for faithful stewardship:
Contact Paul Anderson for more information about stewardship at Community of Joy.
Effective communications is central to our ministry and programs. It includes telling others the great news of God's love and grace through Jesus Christ - through our worship and individual testimony. It includes making sure everyone knows about the many and exciting opportunities to share Christ's love and grow God's family at Community of Joy.
Earlene Shroyer coordinates the Communications Team to make sure our communications are as effective as possible. If you would like to be involved in our communications programs she is your contact.
"Thank you." Volunteers need to hear it and leaders need to say it... often. Rich Nelson leads the Volunteer and Leadership Development Team to ensure that our leaders and volunteers have the support and opportunities they need to be effective in sharing Christ's love and growing God's family.
This includes things like:
If you want more information or want to become involved, contact Rich Nelson.
Community of Joy Lutheran Church is a diverse body of people who are united by our faith in Jesus Christ. We work together to provide meaningful worship experiences, educational opportunities for all ages, and both local and global expressions of our faith.
The Congregation Council of COJ is made up of 6 elected members. Officers and Council members are elected at the November Annual Meeting and are given the responsibility for the oversight and governance of the mission and ministry of COJ.
